With no network restrictions and virtually no referrals, Medicare supplement plans provide flexibility. Coverage follows retirees anywhere in the United States, as long as a provider or facility accepts Medicare patients. Should a retiree move within the U.S., in the rare event that their current plan is unavailable in their new state, they would be able to switch to a new plan without underwriting.
Eight AARP Medicare Supplement Plans are available in most states, giving retirees plenty of choices. MA, MN, and WI differ, and offer varied plans.
A retiree may change their plan at any time, although in some circumstances underwriting may apply.* They must be a current member of AARP at the time of the change.
